Crown v King

A suspect interview is a game of chess.

A deduction game about English criminal law. You get the case file: the police summary, the interview under caution, the witness statements, the exhibits, the statute, the authorities.

The suspect has four excuses. Somewhere in those papers is the one line that destroys each of them. Tap it and the chess board between you plays your move, and it is check. Destroy all four and it is checkmate, and the charge sticks. Six turns, four excuses, and the boldest accusations in the file are traps.

Thirty-four cases, from a man found behind the desk of a pub back office at ten past two to a photograph and a price by Friday. The facts and the people are invented. The law is real and stated accurately, and every chess position is a genuine forced mate.
